North Korea is helping us celebrate the 4th of July Early.  At approximately 3 a.m. EDT another missile was deployed.  All indications was it is a short range missile.  Satellite surveillance indicates that the long range missile promised  to be launched is not being fueled.  So it appears that  Hawaii can rest easy as the threats seem unfounded. This missile launch is the fifth such in the last several days.

Update:  at 4:05 a.m. EDT North Korea has launched another scud type missile this would be the 6th Missile.  The last launch came one hour ago. When it was all said and done North Korea couldn’t pull of the long Range Missile they popped off about for the last month.  The last of the missile’s was number seven and was short of the grand finale that was promised.

SEOUL, July 4 (Yonhap) — North Korea test-launched six ballistic missiles off its eastern coast over several hours on Saturday, the latest in a series of provocative acts by the communist nation locked in a protracted stand-off with the U.S. and other global powers over its nuclear and missile programs, according to the South Korean military.

“North Korea fired two missiles toward the East Sea from the Gitdaeryong base near Wonsan, Gangwon Province, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. today. And it fired another one into the East Sea from the same site around 10:45 a.m.,” an official at the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said. “All the missiles are estimated to have a range of 400-500km.”

The Joint Chiefs of Staff says three missiles were fired early Saturday and the fourth at about noon.

The launches come two days after North Korea fired four short-range missiles.

Yonhap says they’re Scuds.
