On Iron Mill Interactive Media, Inc we have 3 political sites. One of those is Iron Mill News Service. We posted an article call to action by the TeaParty Patriots intitled Don’t Let Them Steal OUR New Members of Congress: DC Insiders Indoctrinating OUR Freshmen
This article provided names and numbers of nearly 100 freshman congressman so that folks could call them and invite them to a Teaparty event. There were several errors in the article including people who actually lost their elections.
Thousands of people called the numbers listed. Some misguided individuals took a defensive posture toward the newly elected and actually caused the Congressmen elect to feel betrayed by the very groups who supported them. That was in no way the intent of the call to action.
While Politisite stands by it’s posting of the article. We fully expected that the Tea Party Patriots would have done a better job of fact checking their information. Additionally we believed the telephone numbers listed in the article were taken from the candidates websites. Some where not.
When a candidate becomes elected his/her expectation of privacy is different than as a private citizen as they are now considered public figures.
The Teaparty groups were concerned about newly elected officials being co-opted by groups that are indifferent to the Teaparty causes. While the elected representatives are adults, the call to action was to simply remind them that they ran under or near the tea party banner. The call to action was not to intimidate anyone.
CBS News, The Daily Kos, Huffington Post, Politico and others have incorporated us negatively with the tea party movement. For clarity sake, I have included an editors note.
Editors Note: Tea Patriots want to thank all those who took action on this post. They further apologize for the mistakes made to some of those listed who did not get elected and should have not been on the list. Additionally, they ask that no further contact or calls should be made on this issues. Politisite, Iron Mill News Service, and Milliron.net are not affiliated with the Tea Party. We do, as our mission statement relates, give a voice to political groups via press releases and call to action requests.
We fully expect to be “the worst person in the World’ on Keith Olbermann show Countdown on Monday night.
