Arizona Senator John McCain is in Syria talking to the Rebels. Doesn’t this man “get it” that many of these Rebels are the same terrorists who fought against United States soldiers in many of our recent conflicts? Warmongering is becoming very unpopular with many new Republicans and the Libertarian elements within the GOP. Even so, McCain has planted himself smack in the middle of the last several conflicts including Libya. We see how well that has turned out.
McCain, one of the fiercest critics of the Obama administration’s Syria policy, made the unannounced visit across the Turkey-Syria border with Gen. Salem Idris, the leader of the Supreme Military Council of the Free Syrian Army. He stayed in the country for several hours before returning to Turkey. Both in Syria and Turkey, McCain and Idris met with assembled leaders of Free Syrian Army units that traveled from around the country to see the U.S. senator. Inside those meetings, rebel leaders called on the United States to step up its support to the Syrian armed opposition and provide them with heavy weapons, a no-fly zone, and airstrikes on the Syrian regime and the forces of Hezbollah, which is increasingly active in Syria.

Sen. John McCain makes unannounced visit to Syria to meet with rebel forces
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) made an unannounced visit to Syria on Monday, speaking to rebels there about their struggle against forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.
Word of McCain’s stop was first reported by The Daily Beast, but the senator did not comment on his trip. Rebel sources told the news website they were thankful for McCain’s decision to visit Syria, calling it “very important and very useful.”
“What we want from the U.S. government is to take the decision to support the Syrian revolution with weapons and ammunition, anti-tank missiles and anti-aircraft weapons,” Syrian Free Army Gen. Salem Idris told reporter John Rogin. “Of course we want a no-fly zone and we ask for strategic strikes against Hezbollah both inside Lebanon and inside Syria.”
