  1. I am a Canadian in Vancouver, BC Canada and many of us watched “MTP” every Sunday. My comment about what seemed to be such a delightful man is
“If it’s true, it must be Tim Russert”
He was one of a kind and his humanity came through so clearly even when he took on his guests, he was so respectful and fair. I wonder why so many other journalists can’t do what he did. Maybe when some of these sensationalist journalists see the overwhelming admiration everyone had for Tim and why, they will learn something. David Gurgon is a close second when it comes to being fair.

  2. Donna, great post but please do not use that artificial word “closure.” I think we all felt as if we knew Tim, that was due to him and his personality but wouldn’t you hate to go through the agony of any funeral service of your spouse or close family member with all the media there? I know i would not and see is as a sign of respect for the family to now have some sense of privacy.

  3. It is probably true that the first and less painful funeral plans to be considered would be a ‘closed” to the public funeral..
Unfortunately, Tim Russert is not the small town guy who left Buffalo, n.y for the big city willing or not to spread his lessons well learned from during his upbringing. Tim,,, and I take the opportunuty to call Mr. R,,ussert, Tim, because I feel I know him. I, for one can really relate to living in upstate New york (Syracuse). Experiencing Buffalo’s lake effect snow, runnung home from Blessed Sacrament School to in order to get that famous of all Catholic School sandwhiches – PB&J. and then run back to school because I lived in a 3 block radious. Couldn’t stay at school cafateria
Tim has touched so many of our hearts, .we learned so much from him and we feel connected to him.for theaching his ethics. It’s a gift from God that has been passed down to us throug Big Russ, Tim, and now Luke
There thousands of people , like myself, who have the need to experience closer, I hope that you will reconsider a closed service and allow Tim to come to us once more so that we may show our love and respect as well as let him know “WE GOT IT’
Respectfully with prayers and blessings to your whole family,
    Donna Bartlett
