Obama: Tea Partiers Should Be Thanking me

As Obama raised 12.5 million at a Democratic fund raiser as he said he was amused by teaparties around the country.  He said they should be thanking me… a real example that the occupier of the White House doesn’t get it.

Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser tonight, President Obama touted his administration’s tax cuts and said that the recent tea party rallies across the nation have “amused” him.
“You would think they should be saying thank you,” the president said to applause.
Members of the audience shouted, “Thank you.”
An exuberant Obama appeared at a fundraiser for the DNC at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami. The event raised $2.5 million for the party.
The president’s 30-minute speech included a lot of recycled material from previous fundraisers like this, but he did reference this week’s special election in Florida, won by a Democrat, and the fight for financial regulatory reform.

Via Dan Riehl, this may well be the single most obnoxious soundbite he’s uttered since his immortal bitter/clinger bon mot during the campaign. Which, if I’m not mistaken, also occurred at a fundraiser. Funny, the thoughts that bubble up when he’s among friends.
You’re welcome, America.

“I’ve been a little amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes,” the president said, noting the numerous tax cuts pushed by his administration. “You would think they’d be saying thank you.”

  1. I didn’t thank him, I bowed. I was glad that we amuse our king and give his court jester a day off.
The $13 per week my family was given by our benevolent dictator helped to offset the $40 per week extra that we are paying for gasoline since he took over as president.
Thank God I don’t smoke or it would have been eaten up by the tax hike on Cigarettes that he enacted just weeks after becoming president.
The new health care bill has four new taxes that will affect everyone and they have raised the minimum health care expenses you must have to claim a deduction on your income tax from 7.5% to 10%.
So much for “no new taxes of any kind” for families making under $200,000.
Read my lips, Mr. President … “no second term!”
