What if Nashville were New Orleans? What if George Bush Were the President? The mainstream media would be all over this as a poor response from the Administration.
It is obvious that a total double standard is in play for the current occupant of the White house. President Obama seems to be immune from any criticism on Nashville and all of Tennessee.
My kids’ asked me why I chose to use a happy and positive song for this slideshow– because even though we just went through a tragedy, our great city is keeping its head up, being brave, helping each other, and in time we WILL be okay.

Nashville Drowning: Obama’s silent, HOPE crumbles like a Coke can
This weekend, Nashville received around 10 inches of rain – a record breaking rain fall that has caused an astounding amount of flooding. The surrounding rivers swelled and as of this afternoon have yet to crest, so water continues to rush through the streets and into buildings. Thousands have lost their homes. The Opryland Hotel is holding 8-10 feet of water. Businesses have lost everything.
President Obama has yet to acknowledge that anything has even happened in Middle Tennessee… most likely because he’s in damage control mode, trying to salvage a response to the LAST disaster. Time is reporting that Gibbs addressed the emergency in today’s briefing. From George Scoville at IntelligencePlease.com:

Barack Obama Hates White People*
I’ve been making quite a stink this morning on Twitter (@stackiii) about how the President of the United States hasn’t so much as acknowledged that the city of Nashville and the Middle Tennessee region have been devastated by flood waters that are without historic precedent. Sure, I know he’s busy responding to criticism that his action on the Gulf oil spill wasn’t quick enough, but excuse me for not caring if a few mullet die when my neighbors are losing everything they’ve spent a lifetime building.
Former President Bush and former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff – for all their policy shortcomings – visited New Orleans two days following Hurricane Katrina. Do I want President Obama and Secretary Napolitano to visit Middle Tennessee? Absolutely not. Their presence there – like Bush and Chertoff’s presence in New Orleans – will have little impact on the actual damage done. But public policy isn’t always about pragmatism and technically sound programs with measurable impacts.

Kanye West: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”
Singer Kanye West (who is black), in a promotional TV appearance with Mike Meyers (who is white) for the NBC telethon to raise money for Katrina victims.
[Kanye — not reading from teleprompter, as planned]: “I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family it says they are looting if you see a white family it says they are looking for food. (…) those are my people down there. (…) “We already realize a lot of the people that could help are at war now fighting another way and they’ve given them permission to go down and shoot us.”[Meyers, visibly uncomfortable, reads from prompter script. Camera cuts back to Kanye, who pauses, then says]
“George Bush doesn’t care about black people!”
[camera abruptly switches back to a stunned Myers, then to actor Chris Tucker]
Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person’s opinion.
