Nevada to move Caucus date back to February 4 from January 14

Looks like Nevada ay be re-thinking their Caucus date.  Seems to us this whole thing is like school children fighting to be first in Line to go out on recess.  If this mess continued, Republicans would be opening up Christmas gifts and then have to jump in the car to go vote in the Primary.

Thankfully, Nevada is looking like they are willing to make an adjustment that will stop this silliness.  As it stands right now, The Iowa Caucuses will be on January 3rd.

New Hampshire has some provision that says they must have seven days in between another states Primary or Caucus.

“I think there is a good chance Nevada will move back to February 4,” Uithoven told CNN.

He said the big motivator is a threat by the Republican National Committee that Nevada would lose half its delegates if it goes with January 14. The state would hope to avoid any sanction by going with the February date, but still remain a key early state in the nominating process.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, who was in Nevada this week for the Western Republican Leadership Conference, has been talking to state party officials to help work out a solution and favors moving the date to February 4, one GOP source told CNN.

Pressure building for Nevada GOP to give up its early caucus date –

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus, in Las Vegas for the Western Republican Leadership Conference, is reportedly pushing hard to broker an early-state compromise that would push Nevada’s caucus date back to Feb. 4.

Were the the state to move from its current date of Jan. 14, Nevada would hold the fifth presidential nominating contest—after Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida.

In return for forfeiting its coveted third-in-the-nation contest this year, Nevada would receive promises of stricter future sanctions to protect its early state status in the long term.
