January 31, 2011 politisite 0

President Barack Obama’s health care reform legislation, assailed as an abuse of federal power in a 26-state lawsuit, was ruled unconstitutional by a U.S. judge. U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson in Pensacola, Florida, declared the law unconstitutional in a ruling today. Then- Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum filed suit on behalf of 13 states on March 23, the same day Obama signed into law the legislation intended to provide the […]

CBO Says Health Care Reform repeal would save $540 Billion

January 7, 2011 politisite 0

The Congressional Budget Office, in an email to Capitol Hill staffers obtained by the Spectator, has said that repealing the national health care law would reduce net spending by $540 billion in the ten year period from 2012 through 2021. That number represents the cost of the new provisions, minus Medicare cuts. Repealing the bill would also eliminate $770 billion in taxes, which accounts for the deficit reduction. Full email, […]

What if Obama's healthcare law required every American to buy a gun? How'd you feel about that?

December 14, 2010 politisite 0

“Never before in our history has the federal government ordered Americans to buy a product under the guise of regulating commerce. Imagine if this bill were that in order to protect our communities and homeland security, every American had to buy a gun. Can you imagine the reaction across the country to that?” Andrew Malcolm’s Top of the Ticket articles are golden. Ken Cuccinelli has not been a well-known public […]

Today’s narrow ruling in Virginia on the constitutionality of a provision of the Affordable Care Act is just one of many recent rulings on similar cases that have come down in recent months.  Since the law passed, opponents of reform have filed more than 20 different legal challenges.   Judges have already granted the Administration’s motion to dismiss 12 of these cases.   And in two cases, federal judges looked at the […]

Racist or Junk Peddlers? Newspaper depicts Obama Before and After Photo as Sanford and Son

May 5, 2010 politisite 0

The newspaper should have just left the Obama ‘before and after photo blank’  but had to use some depiction I guess.  While many are calling the article ‘racist’  I wonder if the motivation was quite different. My first thought wasn’t the color of the skin of the parties… It was that both Obama and Sanford and Son were in the Junk  Business. Remember, one mans junk is another mans treasure.  […]

So here’s where we stand on the votes, from my best attempt at a count. There are 16 undecided votes still out there, all of them Democrats. I’ve listed them below. It looks like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is at 210 and needs six out of 16 votes to get to 216. Here are her targets. The dozen previous yes votes are all pro-lifers. PREVIOUS NO VOTES BRIAN BAIRD (WA), […]

Stupak 12 under such pressure could be down to 10

March 12, 2010 politisite 0

Sitting in an airport, on his way home to Michigan, Rep. Bart Stupak, a pro-life Democrat, is chagrined. “They’re ignoring me,” he says, in a phone interview with National Review Online. “That’s their strategy now. The House Democratic leaders think they have the votes to pass the Senate’s health-care bill without us. At this point, there is no doubt that they’ve been able to peel off one or two of […]

March 11, 2010 politisite 0

Republican polling firm The Tarrance Group, in conjunction with the Start Over! Coalition (which appears to be an anti-ObamaCare group) has commissioned polling for the districts of eleven Democrats thought to be potential flippers on the final vote on health care reform. The results for the main question, “do you favor or oppose the health care reform legislation being proposed by President Obama and the Democrats in Congress” are as […]
